FOGDOG RECEIVES AN ADDITIONAL $10M IN VENTURE CAPITAL

          CA-based online sporting goods store Fogdog Sports has
     closed on funding from two venture capital firms and its
     existing investors. The two firms, Venrock Associates and
     Vertex Management, are investing in Fogdog along with the
     company's original investors Draper Fisher Jurveston, J.H.
     Whitney & Co. and Novus Venture Partners.  Fogdog CEO Tim
     Harrington puts the funding in excess of $10M.  Fogdog will
     use the funding to expand merchandising, distribution and
     customer service operations, to support marketing and other
     brand-building efforts and to grow int'l business (Fogdog). 
     In related news, Fogdog named S.F.-based Odiorne Wilde
     Narraway & Partners as its first ad agency.  Billings are
     estimated at $5M (N.Y. TIMES, 3/10).
