The Celebrity Players golf tour (CPT) starts today in
FL with the Dan Marino FirstPlus Financial Celebrity Invt'l,
which is expected to raise "about" $300,000 for charity,
according to Randall Mell of the Ft. Lauderdale SUN-
SENTINEL. Among those competing in the event are Marino,
Broncos QB John Elway and Braves P Greg Maddux. Meanwhile,
Michael Jordan has told CPT execs that "he intends to play
in at least three" events this season. CPT Assistant Dir

nobody else on the planet." The CPT begins its third year
with 12 events which will offer more than $3M in prize
money. Mell writes tour execs are "working hard to increase
its exposure," and the Tour is in talks with The Golf
     Channel about "a possible alliance" (SUN-SENTINEL, 2/19).
