PANTHERS KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON ATTENDANCE PATTERNS OF FANS

The NHL Panthers have "begun scanning this season's
tickets and will soon begin monitoring the attendance
patterns of its season ticket-holders," according to Alan
Snel of the Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL. A bar code will
allow the team to identify the season-ticket holders who
don't show up at the games and contact them "to find out why
they didn't attend." The team has sold about 15,000 season
tickets at the 19,200-seat National Car Rental Center, and
Panthers VP/Operations Steve Dangerfield "estimates" the no-
show rate among season-ticket holders at about 12-14%. An
NHL spokesperson said the league will discuss ticket stub
scanning at its next marketing meeting (SUN-SENTINEL, 2/13).
