THE COST OF WINNING: FALCONS TO RAISE TICKET PRICES FOR '99

Despite the franchise's first profitable season since
'95, the Falcons announced Thursday they are raising ticket
prices 22-24% for next season, according to Matt Winkeljohn
of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. Season-ticket prices are
increasing from $270 to $330, and from $300 to $370 for
eight regular-season games and two preseason games. Single-
game tickets will "jump" from $30 to $37 and from $33 to
$41. The Falcons had the lowest average ticket price this
past season "and will probably rank among the 12 cheapest
next season" despite the increases. The team's single-game
average will now be around $39. Falcons Exec VP/
Administration Jim Hay "verified" that the team made a
profit during its Super Bowl season for the first time since
the '95 season (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 2/12).
