NASCAR.COM SITE TO PUT BROWSERS IN THE DRIVERS SEAT

ESPN Internet Ventures will upgrade it's NASCAR site at
www.nascar.com in time for the Daytona 500 on Sunday,
according to Richard Tedesco of BROADCASTING & CABLE. The
network plans to add a MotorTrax in-car audio feature which
will "enable PC users to hear drivers during the race."
Users will also be able to access "constantly updated"
photos from the track with a "NASCAR Garage Cam" while
tracking conditions in real time. The site, which draws "an
average of 3 million surfers on race day," will also gain
another audio dimension to the event, called "Fanscan,"
courtesy of County Music TV, which will also offer the
     feature to it's Web users at www.country.com (B&C, 2/5).
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD: The Motor Racing Network
(MRN), a division of Int'l Speedway Corp, has built a new
studio which allows radio listeners a chance to drop by and
see the production staff at work. The network, which has
more than 600 affiliate radio stations in 50 states, has
built the new studio inside Daytona USA, along with a new
interactive attraction underneath the set. The "3-D
Sensation Sound" touts the total experience announcers feel
while broadcasting on race day. MRN also plans to be "more
visible" to listeners by offering affils opportunities to
broadcast live from the studio throughout the year (DAYTONA
NEWS-JOURNAL, 2/9)....MSN announcer Eli Gold is profiled by
the ORLANDO SENTINEL. Gold has five daily segments
featuring racing coverage which are broadcast on the
     network's 600 stations nationwide (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 2/11).
