HEINEKEN NOT MAKING A NEW BUD, PLANS FOR SUPER BOWL AMBUSH

Heineken is "orchestrating an end run around rival"
Anheuser-Busch by "quietly" buying time during the Super
Bowl on Fox affils in 21 markets as part of a $42M U.S. ad
campaign, according to Jonathan Weinbach of the WALL STREET
JOURNAL. The "markets targeted," which include N.Y., L.A.,
Chicago and Atlanta, account for 70-80% of Heineken's U.S
sales. Weinbach writes that Heineken "got a head start by
unveiling Super Bowl-quality ads" during last Sunday's
conference championships (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 1/22).
SUPER BOWL NOTES: A spokesperson from Rock 'n' Jock
ticket brokers said prices for Super Bowl tickets are "down
to about" $1,425, compared to about $1,500 on Tuesday and
$1,700 on Sunday (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/22)....About 100
NFL players will play in the Kash 'n' Karry NFL Players
Super Shootout golf tourney tomorrow in Tampa. The event is
put on by NFL Players Golf Club, an arm of the NFLPA and
Players Inc (RHB Ventures)....N.J.-based Princeton Video
Image has signed with CanWest Global Communications to
provide its virtual ad insertions to Global's coverage of
the Super Bowl in Canada. PVI will receive a share of
revenues generated by Global's insertion sales (PVI).
