LEAGUE NOTES

The CBA has filed lawsuits in a Phoenix Federal
District Court against the IBL and the RiverCity Basketball
Club, LLC, which had agreed to "own and operate a CBA
expansion team" in St. Charles, MO, prior to joining the
rival league. CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter: "We simply
cannot stand idly by while the IBL takes our hard-earned
assets and when RiverCity refuses to honor its contractual
obligations" (CBA). RiverCity Basketball President Michael
Mannion: "The lawsuit is not a concern. ... We don't think
there's any validity whatsoever to the CBA's lawsuit" (ST.
LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 1/22)....The "hoopSalute" fan tribute
to the ABL, featuring 14 former league players, will be held
at DeAnza Community College in CA on Sunday. Tickets for
the eight $1,500 and 40 $250 seats are sold out, with seats
remaining at the $125 and $50 level (S.F. EXAMINER, 1/21).
In San Jose, Sheldon Spencer writes that "hoopSalute"
expects to gross $100,000 in ticket sales, including the 40
$250 seats and eight $1,500 seats (S.J. MERCURY NEWS, 1/22).
