BUYING THE BLUES: TWO GROUPS COULD BE READY TO BID ON TEAM

A local group of business execs "hopes" to meet with
Blues Owner Clark Enterprise "in the near future" to discuss
buying the team and the Kiel Center, according to Michael
Sorkin of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. A "prominent" St.
Louis attorney said that he represents "up to 10 local
businessmen ... in the beginning stages of making an offer."
Sorkin writes that this "could mean a bidding war" for the
team, with reports having Chicago-based Sportsman's Park
Owner and Casino Queen co-Owner Charles Bidwell III, nephew
of Cardinals owner Bill Bidwell, also "putting together an
investor group to buy the Blues" (POST-DISPATCH, 1/22).
