YOUNG AMERICA TO FOX SPORTS NET: COME SAIL AWAY WITH ME

Fox Sports Net (FSN) has signed on to sponsor the New
York Yacht Club/Young America Challenge for the 2000
America's Cup Race in New Zealand. As the first Premier
Partner for Young America, the top-level sponsorship
category for the team, FSN will receive corporate
hospitality at races in both RI and New Zealand in '99 and
signage on Young America's sails, hulls, venues and
communications (FSN). In Providence, Timothy Barmann
reported that the sponsorship "is the single largest"
received by Young America to date. Although spokespeople
for both FSN and Young America declined to give the amount
of the deal, Fox did say that it was a "multimillion-dollar"
sponsorship. Young America has raised about $24M of its
$40M goal. Barmann wrote that the TV exposure FSN will
receive during the race will "ironically ... come courtesy"
of rival ESPN's exclusive coverage (Pro. JOURNAL, 1/19).
