TENNIS MAGAZINE NETS DIFFERENT LOOK UNDER NEW EDITOR

The December-January issue of Tennis magazine will
introduce a new look under editor Mark Woodruff, as the
title "has been redesigned with an artsy touch and more
contemporary graphics," according to Jack Bogaczyk of the
ROANOKE TIMES. Woodruff, who became editor in April, on the
changes: "We're trying to put more life into the magazine.
It's always had a very broad scope, but it was missing
something. We're still going for about half coverage of the
pros and half service and instruction." The title's 700,000
subscribers will "certainly" notice a difference in the
magazine, as Woodruff "plans to energize the publication
with ideas" he learned as Assistant Managing Editor at
Rolling Stone. He said he will "bring in" writers from The
New Yorker and other magazines "with solid editorial
content." Woodruff added that the changes are "just the
start" of his "aggressive game plan" (ROANOKE TIMES, 12/17).
