MAVS GAIN AD MAKEOVER FOR NBA RE-ENTRY; GALAXY INK AGENCY

          The Mavericks have hired DDB Needham to "front a new
     image campaign for [them] -- if and when the lockout ...
     gets resolved," according to Glen Fest of ADWEEK.  DDB
     Needham will handle "increased broadcast assignments,"
     estimated at $1M-plus, as well as print and outdoor
     advertising for the team.  The company has already produced
     one commercial to air after the lockout with the slogan,
     "Winning you over.  One fan at a time" (ADWEEK, 12/14).
          ENTERING A NEW GALAXY: ADWEEK's Angela Dawson reports
     that the L.A.-based DavisElen agency was awarded the ad
     account for the Galaxy, estimated at $1M.  The agency also
     handles the accounts for the NHL Kings and the Staples
     Center.  New ads, focused on establishing the Galaxy brand,
     are scheduled to break in February (ADWEEK, 12/14).
