Chris Myers will make his "Fox Sports News" debut
tonight at 10:00pm ET (Fox Sports Net). In Phoenix, Jim
Gintonio reports that Myers will be teamed with Van Earl
Wright for tonight's show, but that all of Myers' "specific
duties" have not been finalized, but will include "some
anchor and reporting work" in addition to hosting FSN's
"Goin' Deep." The question of whether he will be teamed
with Keith Olbermann "remains unanswered." ESPN Managing
Editor Bob Eaton "doesn't see [FSN's hiring of Olbermann and
Myers] as a precursor to an exodus of employees from ESPN to
Fox." Eaton: "Keith has been gone for a year, and the 11
p.m. ['SportsCenter'] ratings are as strong as when he was
here. As for Chris, you're always sorry to lose someone who
has spent so much time as Chris has. I believe we'll be
able to replace him, and that Up Close will be as good a
show as ever." Gintonio writes that the signing of Myers
and Olbermann "represents a coup" for FSN Senior VP & Exec
Producer John Terenzio (AZ REPUBLIC, 12/9). FSN promoted
Myers' debut with an ad in USA TODAY with the tag, "Meet our
new power forward." The ad lists all FSN affils.
