LEAGUE NOTES

The NFL Coaches Association (NFLCA), which has 400
members, including 16 head coaches, wants "to improve
retirement and health benefits for the membership." But
NFLCA Exec Dir Larry Keenan says that the NFL is "not taking
his group all that seriously." Keenan: "I think they just
want us to go away." The league has "urged" teams to deal
with coaches' issues "on a team-by-team basis and formed a
working group of owners to study the issues and advise the
teams." The Cowboys, Bengals and Saints "won't allow their
coaches to join" the NFLCA (WASHINGTON POST, 12/9)....The
ABL took out a quarter-page ad in USA TODAY featuring Jenny
McCarthy under the tag "Looking For Some Action." The text
reads, in part: "This is Jenny McCarthy, and do I have a new
game for you -- the ABL. Check out the best in women's pro
hoops this Sunday on Fox Sports Net." McCarthy's sister,
Joanne, plays guard for the Chicago Condors (THE DAILY).
