COLLEGIATE PRO LEAGUE INKS AIR TIME ON PAX TV IN '99

The Collegiate Professional Basketball League signed a
$1M TV broadcast agreement with Pax TV, which will televise
a majority of CPBL games in the league's eight inaugural
markets -- Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, DC, NY, NJ
and Philadelphia. The agreement allows the league to buy
time on Pax TV for 96 two-hour broadcasts, which will be
produced by an independent contractor hired by the league.
The CPBL will sell all ad time, and keep all revenue
generated by the broadcasts. Pax TV will have a visible
presence in all CPBL arenas (CPBL). The games will debut in
November '99 and will run for 14 consecutive Saturdays from
noon to 2:00pm. The SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Langdon
Brockinton reports that the CPBL is also "closing in on a
national radio deal" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/23 issue).
Jonathan Davies of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER writes that each
team will be featured in 28 televised games making up the 96
games on Pax TV. The CPBL will sell 24 minutes of ads in
each two-hour block (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 11/23).
