LET'S PAY, TOO! CUBS LATEST TEAM TO INCREASE PRICES FOR '99

The Cubs will increase their average ticket price by
18% for "most home games" next season, according to Paul
Sullivan of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. The average ticket price
will increase to $17.30, with club and field boxes going
from $21 to $25 and bleacher seats going from $12 to $15.
Cubs President Andy MacPhail said that the team's $49M
payroll would be "reasonably higher" in '99, with the
"lion's share" of the increase going toward payroll. The
Cubs will have 10 "value date" games where ticket prices
will not increase from '98 costs (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/10).
