DO OR DYE: FORMER CALLAWAY GOLF CEO SAYS HE WAS FIRED

Former Callaway Golf President & CEO DONALD DYE, who
"stepped down" from his position on October 15 after working
alongside company founder ELY CALLAWAY for 24 years, said he
"did not resign" but was "fired," according to Gene Yasuda
of GOLFWEEK. Dye: "If I had been asked if I wanted to stay
there, I would have stayed. I was willing and able to
continue leading. But I was already informed that there was
consensus among the board, including Ely, that it would be
in the best interest for me to leave." Dye said that the
board told him "it had lost confidence" in his ability to
lead. Dye: "I wasn't going to fight it." Ely Callaway
denied any dispute between Dye and the board: "He's not the
fall guy for the problems we have. ... (Dye) has accepted
the feeling, mostly of the outside directors of the company,
that in the future the CEO of this company will take us in a
little bit of a different direction" (GOLFWEEK, 10/24).
