AFTER SERVING STERN, POSTOLOS NEW ROCKET MAN IN HOUSTON

George Postolos will be named the Rockets COO today,
and will begin his duties October 1, according to Eddie
Sefko of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Postolos' position will
make him the head of Rocketball Ltd., Rockets Owner Les
Alexander's organization that runs the Rockets, the WNBA
Comets and the AFL ThunderBears. Postolos: "I'm in a great
situation. For me, it's coming home. I'm a Texan."
Postolos has worked as Special Assistant to NBA Commissioner
David Stern for the past 21 months, and Stern says of him,
"There is no project he can't pulverize." Stern: "He's a
talented lawyer who came to the NBA two years ago as my
special assistant. Unfortunately, he was exposed to the
owners and Les came and stole him." In addition to team
duties, Postolos will work to secure a new arena for the
franchise. He fills the vacancy left by John Thomas who
departed in July (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/29).
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT: Including Postolos, each
of the last three Special Assistants to Stern have all gone
on to "high-profile roles," including WNBA Commissioner Val
Ackerman and NBAE COO Adam Silver (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/29).
