SEAHAWKS INK STADIUM LEASE, IN DEAL TERMED AS "FAIR"

First & Goal, parent company of the Seahawks, "inked a
stadium lease" with the Public Stadium Authority (PSA),
according to Brier Dudley of the SEATTLE TIMES. Team Owner
Paul Allen will pay $850,000 a year to lease the $430M
stadium, exhibition hall and garage opening in 2002 on the
site of the Kingdome. Allen will get all revenue from
stadium and parking, and 80% of revenue from the exhibition
center. A lease analysis done by Deloitte & Touche for the
PSA shows that the Seahawks' total occupancy cost, for the
stadium will be "third-highest among 12 recent stadium
projects," behind only the Redskins and Panthers. The team,
however, will pay "one of the lowest rents" among the 12
teams surveyed. There are 10 "new or forthcoming" stadiums
that were not included in the survey. The lease is for 30
years, with options for 20 more (SEATTLE TIMES, 9/25).
