          At the request of the NV State Athletic Commission,
     MIKE TYSON "underwent several hours of psychological and
     neurological tests" at MA General Hospital yesterday "to
     determine his mental fitness to return to boxing" (BOSTON
     GLOBE, 9/24)....In N.Y., Mitchell Fink reports that MSNBC's
     KEITH OLBERMANN "hates the network's obsession with the
     MONICA LEWINSKY scandal" and has "asked out of his three-
     year contract."  But Fink's sources say that NBC News
     President ANDREW LACK "isn't about to let his new star off
     the hook" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 9/24)....SEAN "PUFFY" COMBS "has
     ankled" out of the film "Any Given Sunday," causing Director
     OLIVER STONE to delay the start of shooting from November to
     January (DAILY VARIETY, 9/24)....Blazers free agent G DAMON
     STOUDAMIRE was in Vancouver this week taping an episode of
     "The Sentinel" TV series (TORONTO SUN, 9/24)....Orioles 2B
     ROBERTO ALOMAR, on his relationship with tennis star MARY
     PIERCE: "We are living together but taking everything else
     one step at a time.  We are not ready to make any big
     announcement yet.  We want to maintain this for a while and
     not rush into anything.  When the time comes, we will move
     to the next level" (TENNIS, 10/98 issue)....The U.S. WOMEN'S
     NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM visited TIPPER GORE yesterday.  On hand
     were local youth coaches, corporate reps to Mrs. Gore, 
     Health & Human Services Secretary DONNA SHALALA and feminist
     BETTY FRIEDAN (WASHINGTON POST, 9/24)....The October issue
     of Maxim magazine, which hit newsstands Monday, celebrates
     the start of the '98-99 NHL season by featuring Devils KEN
     DANEYKO, KEVIN DEAN, KRZYSZTOF OLIWA, BRIAN ROLSTON and
     SHELDON SOURAY (Maxim)....Bucs DT WARREN SAPP donated
     $50,000 toward the purchase of 10,000 pairs of shoes for
     needy Tampa-area students as part of his "Sapp for Shoes"
     program (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 9/23)....WAYNE HUIZENGA's Florida
     Panthers Holdings bought the Golf Club of Plantation (FL),
     and FPH spokesperson Stan Smith said the club would be
     "completely redesigned" (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-SENTINEL, 9/24).
     ...Disney CEO MICHAEL EISNER appeared on NBC's "Today" this
     morning to talk about his new book, "Work In Progress." 
     Eisner, on people saying he involves himself with every
     aspect of the company's business: "I'm getting more credit
     than I deserve.  Yes, I run around and I make myself a pain
     in the ass and I have fun doing it."  NBC's KATIE COURIC:
     "This is a family show by the way, Mr. Disney."  Eisner will
     appear on "Today" tomorrow to discuss Disney (NBC, 9/24).
