PATS GO CARROLLING IN CYBERSPACE: SEES NET AS REVENUE STREAM

The Patriots have established themselves "as one of the
most tenacious gridiron players in cyberspace" and are
"positioning themselves to profit" from the venture,
according to Gregg Krupa of the BOSTON GLOBE. The team has
joined with CA-based InterVU to produce "Patriots Live!," a
cybercast on patriots.com after each of the team's four
prime-time games this season. They are also offering a new
site called patriots.tripod.com, developed with Tripod, a
Lycos company, and MA-based Parable. The site allows users
to "pull down pictures and team marks," while fans can build
"their own home page and publish online to a community of
other Patriots' followers." The team will "eventually offer
the collectibles for sale from the site," as the technology
"makes the collectibles portable while securing the
licensing rights." With sponsors like New England Ford and
BayBank advertising on the site, "insiders" say the team is
seeing a "revenue stream" from their online initiatives that
"is well into the six figures" (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/19).
