Latrell Sprewell yesterday announced "a new series of
allegations and charges against the NBA and the Warriors and
refiled an 'amended' version of a lawsuit that was dismissed
a month ago by a federal judge," according to C.W. Nevius of
the S.F. CHRONICLE. At the time, the judge "urged" Sprewell
not to refile. Sprewell: "It is an uphill fight. That's
all I can say. My own agent, Arn Tellem, advised me to
leave it alone." Sprewell wants damages capped at $1M and
is trying to introduce evidence that NBA Security Chief
Horace Balmer and two co-workers "shredded" notes from
interviews with Sprewell's teammates and "intentionally
suppressed important evidence for the purpose of
perpetrating fraud" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/1). Warriors
attorney Steve Adamsky: "This entire lawsuit is nonsense,
and Sprewell's attorneys know that" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS,
9/1). NBA Chief Legal Officer Jeffrey Mishkin said in a
statement that Sprewell's legal effort has "now become a
pathetic sideshow" (NBA). The complaint was filed in
Federal District Court in S.F. (N.Y. TIMES, 9/1).
