FRANCHISE NOTES

          Class AA San Antonio Missions Owner Dave Elmore "has
     completed a deal" with CHL Iguanas Owner Horn Chen that will
     make Elmore a majority owner of the team.  Elmore owns two
     other minor-league hockey teams, the IHL Utah Grizzlies and
     the ECHL Tallahassee Tiger Sharks (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS,
     9/1)....Researchers at Midwestern State Univ. "completed a
     study on the economic impact" of having the Cowboys'
     training camp on campus.  Over 4 1/2 weeks, fans contributed
     approximately $4.2M to the local economy (SAN DIEGO UNION-
     TRIBUNE, 8/29)....WNBA fans came to "celebrate" at the
     Minneapolis City Center after the 5,000th season-ticket
     deposit secured a WNBA team for that city.  With 5,870
     tickets sold as of Monday, the team is now shifting its
     attention to finding a coach (STAR TRIBUNE, 9/1).
