BRONCOS' STADIUM DEAL GIVES THEM A $20M NEW LEASE ON LIFE

The Broncos "would pay a quarter of a proposed new
stadium's cost, but keep nearly all the revenue, more than"
$20M a year, according to a draft of the team's lease cited
by Ann Imse of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS. Stadium Board
member Gene Ciancio said that the new lease gives the
Broncos "nearly" 100% of the stadium revenues, including
tickets, concessions and parking revenues, and projections
indicate that it could total more than $20M a year. The
proposed lease, which must by approved by Thursday, will be
unveiled to the public tonight by the City Council. The
lease will take effect only if voters approve a November
stadium vote calling for an extension of the 0.1% Coors
Field sales tax (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 9/1).
IT'S ON THE BALLOT: CO Secretary of State Vikki Buckley
ruled Monday that stadium supporters "have turned in enough
valid signatures" to be put on the November 3 ballot in the
metro Denver area (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 9/1).
