IS TALK OF CART/IRL REUNION ONLY TALK? ANDRETTI IN PHILLY

"Rumblings of late" have CART and the IRL "perhaps
ready to settle their differences," according to USA TODAY's
Skip Wood, who writes, "That's about all they are --
rumblings. What you have is a few owners in both
organizations who'd welcome a reunion, and others in both
circuits who see no reason to change anything." IRL
VP/Corporate Communications Fred Nation: "Over the last few
months, a number of (CART) teams have communicated with us
about their desire to see some kind of arrangement in the
future, but that's pretty much where it stands." CART
President & CEO Andrew Craig: "I'm just not prepared to
discuss any issues relating to the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway or the IRL" (Skip Wood, USA TODAY, 8/27).
A PHILADELPHIA STORY FOR CART: In Philadelphia, Pete
Schnatz writes on Michael Andretti's appearance at one of
the city's "most scarred areas" to visit the William
Longstreth Elementary School, "part of a new CART campaign
to cultivate fans in the inner city." Schnatz: "Deemed a
success by everyone involved, Saturday's event may serve as
a blueprint for future CART ventures into inner-city
communities around the country" (PHILA. INQUIRER, 8/27).
