MACGREGOR BOUGHT BY PARKSIDE; SPALDING GRABS A HOLD-ING

          MacGregor Golf was purchased by CA-based management
     buyout firm The Parkside Group, who acquired it from the
     foreign investment group which bought MacGregor 18 months
     ago.  Terms were not disclosed.  Parkside Managing Partner
     Barry Schneider will become MacGregor Chair and William
     Marsh will continue to serve as President & CEO.  MacGregor
     expects worldwide sales this year of about $50M (MacGregor).
          EVENFLOW: Evenflo & Spalding Holdings Corp., "as
     expected," completed its breakup into stand-alone baby-
     products and sporting-goods businesses, boosted by a $100M
     capital investment from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. 
     Evenflo & Spalding said it will change its name to Spalding
     Holdings Corp (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 8/24).
