RATINGS NOTES: Fox's 3.9/12 rating for its MLB coverage was the net's highest Saturday afternoon MLB rating ever, topping a 3.7/13 in July of '97. Fox's MLB coverage is averaging a 2.9 this season, up 7% from its 2.7 from the same period in '97....NBC's WNBA coverage is averaging a 1.6/5 through 10 games, down 24% from last year, when the net was averaging a 2.1/7 through 8 games....CBS's Buick Open two-day average of 3.3/10 was its highest since it drew a 4.5/13 in '93 (THE DAILY)...Fox Sports Southwest earned an 8.6 for Randy Johnson's Wednesday start vs. the Brewers, the highest Astros rating ever on FSSW. The rating translates into a 15.3 cable rating (FSSW). Since Johnson's trade to Houston, the Astros are averaging a 7.1 on FSSW -- a 42% increase from '97 (David Barron, HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/14). ...Wednesday's Mets-Cardinals game drew an 8.2 on Fox Sports MW -- the third-highest rating in the net's history (FSMW).
