NIKE ANNUAL MEETINGS TO BE WALKIN' IN MEMPHIS THIS SEPTEMBER

          Nike officials, employees and shareholders will meet in
     Memphis on September 23 for the company's annual meeting,
     "the first to be held outside" of OR, home of Nike's
     headquarters, according to Dewanna Lofton of the Memphis
     COMMERCIAL APPEAL.  Nike has "huge" footwear and apparel
     distribution facilities in Memphis, and Lofton reported that
     the company employs 1,700 people in TN, provides an annual
     payroll of $48M, pays state and local taxes of $13M and
     spends "about" $68M with state and local suppliers.  Willie
     Gregory, Nike Manager of Public Relations: "Nike has made a
     tremendous investment in Memphis" (COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 8/11).
