EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

ABC has confirmed that PAT FILI-KRUSHEL will become
President of the network, according to Stephen Battaglio of
the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. As part of her responsibilities,
Fili-Krushel will coordinate with ABC Sports, which reports
to ESPN President STEVE BORNSTEIN (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 8/3).
DAILY VARIETY's Joseph Adalian reports that Fili-Krushel's
promotion, which makes her "arguably the most powerful woman
in television," came as a "surprise to many" because "rarely
does someone vault from head of daytime to network
president." Adalian adds that ABC insiders are interpreting
the appointment "as another sign" that ABC President ROBERT
IGER is preparing to take on an expanded role within Disney,
"possibly as second-in-command" to Disney Chair MICHAEL
EISNER (Joseph Adalian, DAILY VARIETY, 8/3).
