AFTER USSF SUIT, COURT STOPS DISTRIBUTION OF SOCCER CALENDAR

The U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) won a court decision
Thursday when a U.S. District Court in CA enjoined PMP
Studios from selling soccer pinup calendars which depict
semi-nude women wearing soccer jerseys bearing replicas of
the USSF shield. The court also barred PMP from using the
logo on its Internet home page (USSF). USSF President Alan
Rothenberg said that with the Women's World Cup in '99, "we
are going to great lengths to ensure that the USSF's
intellectual property is vigorously protected and that the
positive image of women in sport and soccer as family
     entertainment is preserved" (S.D. UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/1).
