Nuggets season-ticket holders "will not have to pay for
their 1998-99 tickets until the NBA lockout is resolved,"
according to Vicki Michaelis of the DENVER POST. Normally,
Nuggets fans are billed in full for upcoming season tickets
in late June and early July. Ascent Sports Senior VP/
Marketing Dennis Mannion: "In our case, we did not feel it
would be appropriate to charge the fans full ticket value.
Obviously, last year's record [11-71] plays into that
somewhat." Ascent also is keeping season-ticket prices the
same for next season, which Mannion said is based on the
state of the team, not the lockout (DENVER POST, 8/1).
THE BUCK DON'T STOP: In Milwaukee, Bob Wolfley reported
that the Bucks "did not alter their policy because of the
lockout." Friday was the first deadline the Bucks set for
their season-ticket holders to renew their subscriptions.
Bucks VP/Business Ops John Steinmiller declined to say if
the lockout would have a dampening effect on season
renewals, but said the team has "assured" ticket holders
"that if we do have to address any loss of games, it will be
addressed promptly and fairly" (MIL. JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/2).
