TAGLIABUE VOICES CONCERN OVER PATRIOTS' STADIUM SITUATION

NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said he was "very
concerned about the Patriots" and their stadium situation,
according to Nick Cafardo of the BOSTON GLOBE. Tagliabue:
"My concern is that there is a such an atmosphere of
frustration up there that it's creating a failed hope of
getting something done." Tagliabue said that he expects to
pursue a meeting with MA House Speaker Thomas Finneran soon
about his opposition to the Senate version of a stadium
plan. Tagliabue: "In other areas of the country, we've been
able to bring the private and public sector together in a
spirit of cooperation. But it seems there continue to be
roadblocks at every turn in New England." If the MA
situation gets beyond repair, Tagliabue said Hartford "would
be a serious alternative" (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/2). Patriots
VP/Community Relations Don Lowery, on talks between Owner
Bob Kraft and CT officials: "He's been approached by the
governor and other leaders there. Of course he's interested
in what they have to say" (Providence JOURNAL-BULLETIN,8/3).
