Nutritional supplement company EAS has set up an area
in the Broncos' dining room to serve myoplex bars and shakes
-- nutrition products designed to help athletes recover from
intense physical activity, according to Adam Schefter of the
DENVER POST. Though the NFL "has been closely monitoring"
the exposure Broncos players afford CO-based EAS, head coach
Mike Shanahan "said he has no problems with his players
consuming the products." Shanahan: "I like EAS. I like the
product they have, and I use it personally." EAS CEO Bill
Phillips said that there "was no reason the NFL should be
paying attention" to the team's "close relationship" with
EAS, particularly at training camp. Phillips: "The NFL is
concerned with game-day issues. But what teams do at camp
is on their own turf" (Adam Schefter, DENVER POST, 7/29).
SIRLOIN TIPS: Details of Campbell's Soup fall campaign
featuring Broncos QB John Elway, DL Neil Smith and RB
Terrell Davis "are being kept secret." But Smith told the
DENVER POST, "These commercials are going to be really
sweet. They're really going to stand out. But I'll tell
you what. Man, I never ate so much Chunky Sirloin Burger
soup in a day in my life" (DENVER POST, 7/29).
