IS IRON MIKE LOOKING TO TAKE A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE?

Having already asked NJ for a boxing license, MIKE
TYSON "will soon ask New York boxing officials to give him a
license," according to Gregg Birnbaum of the N.Y. POST. A
"knowledgeable source" said that Tyson's request "would come
within a couple of weeks." The source said that giving
Tyson a license in NY "could set off major controversy," as
the NY Athletic Commission (NYAC) "prides itself" on having
some of the "toughest" boxing regulations in the U.S. and NY
GOV. GEORGE PATAKI is facing re-election. The source: "This
thing has huge political overtones" (N.Y. POST, 7/26).
ESPN's Al Bernstein: "There's probably a deal already
cooking with some hotel in New Jersey -- possibly Trump,
could be another one -- where Shelly Finkel, his new advisor
and manager, has more ties" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 7/26).
