USTA REACHING OUT TO YOUNGSTERS, PLANS NEW KIDS SHOW ON CBS

The USTA is launching a kids TV show on CBS called
"Topspin," according to Langdon Brockinton of SPORTSBUSINESS
JOURNAL. It is "still undetermined" whether the new show,
which will be aimed "primarily" at 8-17-year-olds, will
debut "this year or next." However, it is "possible" that
two installments of the half-hour program will air next
month, before the August 31 start of the U.S. Open. Under
terms of the agreement, which runs through 2004, four
episodes of the new show will air each year on "select
Saturday afternoons in the spring and summer." Brockinton
adds that pro tennis players "are expected" to serve as
hosts for the show (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/20 issue).
