          ABC's NFL analyst BOOMER ESIASON will host the 78th
     Annual Miss America Pageant on ABC in September (Mult.,
     7/14).  In L.A., Stephen Battaglio: "There he is ... Mr.
     Cross Promotion" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 7/14)....MIKE TYSON's
     boxing adviser, SHELLY FINKEL, confirmed that Tyson "will
     have his own record label" with Warner Brothers (N.Y. POST,
     7/14)....Among those attending HERB ALLEN's 16th annual
     retreat in Sun Valley, ID were Disney's MICHAEL EISNER,
     TCI's JOHN MALONE, Nike's PHIL KNIGHT and News Corp.'s
     RUPERT MURDOCH and PETER CHERNIN.  The "most prominent no-
     show" was Blazers/Seahawks Owner PAUL ALLEN.  The HOLLYWOOD
     REPORTER's Anita Busch reported that those in attendance
     said that for the first time since the retreat has been
     held, "it was clear that entertainment is taking a back seat
     to technology.  Once media and entertainment strong, Allen's
     mogul convention has become the playground for technology
     execs, especially computer whizzes who are now on the
     cutting edge of converging entertainment and delivery
     systems" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 7/13)....Members of THE OTHER
     ONES, the surviving members of THE GRATEFUL DEAD, attended
     Friday's Cubs-Brewers game in Milwaukee.  In Milwaukee, Bob
     Wolfley reports the group sat behind home plate and was
     "well-behaved" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 7/14).....MATT
     KUCHAR told the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION that he may turn pro
     soon, saying, "The time is right for me to really chase that
     dream" (ATL. CONSTITUTION, 7/14).  Endorsement deals could
     bring Kuchar "in excess" of $2M a year, and insiders believe
     that to be a "conservative figure" (Ft. Lauderdale SUN-
     SENTINEL, 7/14).....JACK NICKLAUS said he plans to retire
     from the PGA Tour after 2000 (Mult., 7/14)....ESPN's John
     Kernan noted reports that F1 driver MICHAEL SCHUMACHER "is
     set to sign a new three-year deal to stay at Ferrari worth a
     reported $41 million a year" ("SportsCenter," 7/13).
