ADIDAS SAYS THAT SOME CONTRACTORS USED CHINESE PRISONERS

          adidas-Salomon AG "conceded that some of its licensees
     and subcontractors likely used Chinese prisoners at a labor
     camp ... to produce thousands of soccer balls branded with
     Adidas and Official World Cup logos," according to Copetas &
     Smith of the WALL STREET JOURNAL.  Peter Csanadi, adidas Dir
     of Global PR, said adidas has "cancelled all soccer-ball
     orders coming out of China.  No more orders will placed in
     China for the time being" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/1).
          CUP NOTES: In L.A., Univision flagship KMEX L.A.'s
     World Cup coverage of Mexico-Germany "dwarfed" the morning
     competition Monday.  From 7:30-9:30am, KMEX averaged an
     8.7/27, "more than double" KABC's 3.5 rating and KNBC's 3.1
     for its Wimbledon coverage.  In Nielsen's local Hispanic
     household survey, Mexico-Germany drew a 44.0/74.  Each
     rating point in Nielsen's Hispanic survey represents 13,509
     local households (DAILY VARIETY, 7/1)....For the 48 games in
     the first round of the Cup, 22% of the event's participants,
     123 players, wore Puma footwear (Puma).
