PLAYER DEALS: STEWART NOT ABOUT TO SLASH SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT

          Steelers QB Kordell Stewart has signed three
     endorsement deals and extended a fourth to increase his off-
     the-field earnings to about $2.5M a year, according to
     Curtis Eichelberger of BLOOMBERG NEWS.  Stewart signed a
     four-year extension with Nike, a multiyear deal with Sprint
     Corp., a one-year deal with Pro Line licensed apparel, and a
     two-year deal with video game maker Midway Games. 
     Eichelberger adds that the deals likely place Stewart among
     the league's "five highest-paid endorsers."  NJ-based ISI
     handles Stewart's marketing endeavors (BLOOMBERG, 6/26).
          PLAYER NOTES: Packers RB Dorsey Levens has signed WI-
     based Sports Marketing & Management Group (SM2G) as his
     marketing agency (SM2G)....The Lakers' top pick Sam Jacobson
     is in talks with Nike.  Jacobson "can expect a three-year,
     guaranteed contract worth $500,000 a season."  MN-based
     Signature Sports represents Jacobson (Charley Walters,
     PIONEER PRESS, 6/25)....Rockets first-round pick Michael
     Dickerson has signed with Converse, agreeing to wear the
     Converse All Star Shakedown shoe (AZ DAILY STAR, 6/26).
