UNIVISION'S RATINGS STRONG; ON ESPN, FOUDY YOU LIKE THAT?

During Univision's live coverage of 32 World Cup games,
the network is averaging 767,000 households, "easily
     eclipsing ESPN's average of 592,000 and ESPN2's 346,000,
according to the AP's Josh Dubow. ABC's five-game average
     is at 3.2, down 56% from '94 (AP/DETROIT NEWS, 6/26). In
L.A., Tom Hoffarth: "As France bids adieu to those Losing
Ugly Americans ... with them likely goes any further
interest in the rest of the tournament by the casual U.S.
television sports audience" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 6/26).
STAR IN THE MAKING? SI's John Walters calls Julie
Foudy's soccer analysis for ESPN's World Cup coverage "a
terrific bonus." Foudy has "shown -- and elicited -- more
passion than her male compatriots" did on the field (SI,
6/29 issue)....The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Steve McKee writes
that ESPN2's "World Cup 2Nite" gets it "mostly right" and
gives "kudos" for including Foudy, even though the "banter"
at times "seems scripted" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/26).
