REPORT SAYS MD GOVERNOR OVERESTIMATED IMPACT OF RAVENS NEST

Although MD Gov. Parris Glendening's administration has
predicted that the new state-financed Ravens stadium will
generate nearly $184M a year for the state, the MD General
Assembly's Office of Policy Analysis "predicts the figure
will be about one-third that much," or $64M, according to
Charles Babington of the WASHINGTON POST. In addition,
while the administration says the stadium will create 2,792
jobs, the Policy Analysis report, which was issued this
week, predicts only 889 new jobs. Both Glendening and the
MD Department of Business and Economic Development declined
to comment on the report (WASHINGTON POST, 6/19).
