BULL MARKET: Bulls F DENNIS RODMAN appeared on NBC's
"Tonight Show" last night. Rodman, on the Bulls: "PHIL
[JACKSON] needs a contract, MICHAEL [JORDAN]'s going to get
$40 million, SCOTTIE [PIPPEN] will get $30 -- I'm going to
get the rest." Rodman's wrestling partner, HOLLYWOOD HULK
HOGAN, made an appearance on the show, as did KARL MALONE
and DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE, who will wrestle Hogan and Rodman
next month (NBC, 6/17). Rodman has signed a deal with Sony
to star in an untitled film directed by RINGO LAM and DEVIN
ELDERS. The film will be produced by Lam, DWIGHT MANLEY and
MOSHE DIAMANT (DAILY VARIETY, 6/18).
BOOK TOUR: Temple Publishing's "LEGAL BASES: BASEBALL
AND THE LAW," by Rutgers Law School and MLB salary
arbitrator ROGER ABRAMS, is reviewed by Smith College
economics professor Andrew Zimbalist in the WASHINGTON POST.
Zimbalist writes that Abrams "does not always succeed in
presenting a balanced or penetrating account of his
subject," and that "overall it is Abram's failure to draw
out the many implications of antitrust law and baseball's
exemption that is the Achilles' heel of the book"
