NOTES: The AHL set league records for the '97-98 season for average and total attendance, drawing four million fans for the first time. Eight teams established attendance records, led by Philadelphia, which set league records for a team in total and average attendance. (^): The Beast of New Haven played its inaugural season, while the Carolina Monarchs became dormant after the '96-97 season. The Binghamton Rangers relocated to Hartford and were renamed the Wolf Pack. The Baltimore Bandits moved to Cincinnati as the Mighty Ducks, the NHL team's affiliate. -30-
