ANTI LENNOX? REPORTS HAVE HBO DROPPING $20M OFFER

HBO has "withdrawn its offer" to extend its contract
with Lennox Lewis, according to Richard Sandomir of the N.Y.
TIMES. HBO had been negotiating a five-year deal worth
"about" $20M with Lewis. Boxing industry sources said that
the withdrawal "did not preclude future talks," but that the
postponement of the Evander Holyfield-Henry Akinwande bout
last Saturday at MSG "led HBO to want to review its offer"
(N.Y. TIMES, 6/9). The WASHINGTON POST quotes a source as
saying that HBO was "furious" to find that Lewis's handlers
were negotiating with Don King and Showtime while Lewis was
under contact with HBO. The source adds that Lewis wanted
two "outs" of his HBO deal, one to fight Holyfield, the
other to fight Mike Tyson (WASHINGTON POST, 6/9).
