          In N.Y, Clifton Brown writes that by qualifying for the
     U.S. Open, CASEY MARTIN "will become the focal point of
     attention next week" (N.Y. TIMES, 6/9)....Federal
     prosecutors said yesterday that Packers QB BRETT FAVRE
     "played a key role" in arresting two men charged with
     selling more than 1,000 phony Favre autographs.  Favre
     cooperated with an FBI sting operation aimed at a Milwaukee-
     area sports memorabilia dealer (JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/9)....In
     Chicago, columnist Jay Mariotti, on Bulls F DENNIS RODMAN's
     skipping practice yesterday and later appearing on TNT's
     "WCW Monday Nitro" last night: "No longer can this tattooed,
     green-haired, head-butting, crotch-kicking, Vegas-jetting,
     Carmen Electrified, Rodzilla-like doofus be allowed to shred
     the dignity of the greatest athlete of our time and his
     regal dynasty" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 6/9)....Blackhawks F BOB
     PROBERT and Red Wings F DARREN MCCARTY are partners in a MI-
     based restaurant chain, Little Daddy's, and are eying
     downtown Royal Oak, MI, for its third location (DETROIT FREE
     PRESS, 6/9)....GARY SWAIN, Managing Dir of IMG's Chicago
     office, is featured in AD AGE's "On A Roll" spotlight. 
     Swain says to watch for "more events to be created purely to
     sell specific brands and products such as shoes and apparel. 
     Events will be the integrated marketing sales engine of the
     future" (AD AGE, 6/8 issue).
