MAGIC JOHNSON'S "MAGIC HOUR" DEBUTS TO TEPID REVIEW

MAGIC JOHNSON'S "The Magic Hour" premiered in
syndication last night and Johnson told ARNOLD
SCHWARZENEGGER why he was chosen to be the first guest:
"Cookie [Magic's wife] loves you. ... My kids, they go crazy
seeing you in the movies. And HARRISON FORD couldn't make
it tonight" ("The Magic Hour," 6/8). PAT RILEY is among
Johnson's guests scheduled for this week (MEDIAWEEK, 6/8).
OPENING NIGHT: In L.A., Barry Garron reviewed "The
Magic Hour," writing that "there was more Magic Johnson on
the air than magic in it." Garron adds that Johnson's
"gentle and kind persona, so perfect for an interviewee, was
too weak for an interviewer" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 6/9).
