SABRES SHARPEN THEIR BOTTOM LINE WITH STRONG PLAYOFF RUN

The Sabres have sold all 80 of their luxury suites --
ranging in price from about $60,000 to $115,000 -- for next
season, "and they're planning to have a waiting list for the
following season," according to Gene Warner of the BUFFALO
NEWS. The team also wants to capitalize on its playoff run
this year by increasing its season-ticket base from about
8,600 to 10,000 next year. The team's seven home playoff
games this year grossed more than $700,000 per game, and
Sabres Majority Owner John Rigas said the playoff run
"brought another" $4-5M "to the bottom line." Warner called
the Sabres' sold-out suites their "most surprising success"
and a "marked contrast to the Bills' problems selling their
new suites" (Gene Warner, BUFFALO NEWS, 6/7).
