MEDIA NOTES

Turner Sports President Harvey Schiller has "denied" a
N.Y. Times report that Marv Albert will meet with Turner
execs about announcing NBA games next season. Schiller:
"There's no meeting scheduled with Marv. We are very
satisfied with the play-by-play talent we have on board"
(Rudy Martzke, USA TODAY, 5/18)....In Akron, Terry Pluto
wrote that those running the NBA or WNBA marketing "can be
really dumb." Pluto reported that the WNBA "turned down the
request" to broadcast WNBA Rockers games from two radio
stations in ME, where the Rockers' Cindy Blodgett was once a
standout at the Univ. of ME. The league cited regulations
which prevent radio broadcasts of any games 500 miles
outside the home market. Cavs/Rockers broadcaster Joe Tait:
"I asked the idiots why, and they just said that's because
it's the rule, no other explanation" (BEACON JOURNAL, 5/17).
