NEW WORLD GOLF VILLAGE SET TO TEE IT UP THIS WEEKEND

          The World Golf Village and World Golf Hall of Fame in
     St. Augustine, FL, will hold a three-day, invitation-only
     opening this weekend, which will include a Smokey Robinson
     concert benefiting The First Tee initiative (World Golf
     Village).  The only pubic admission before Tuesday's Grand
     Opening will be up to 1,000 people who will attend Monday's
     Hall of Fame inductions (FL TIMES-UNION, 5/15).  The two-
     story World Golf Hall of Fame cost $55M (USA TODAY, 5/15).
          OTHER NOTES: GOLF WORLD reports that the '99 Ryder Cup
     is on pace to surpass the U.S. Open as the largest corporate
     entertainment venue in golf.  As of May 1, the PGA had sold
     59 corporate hospitality tents at $250,000 per tent, a total
     of $14.75M.  In addition, sources say that ticket sales for
     the matches, at The Country Club in Brookline, MA, are
     "virtually sold out" (GOLF WORLD, 5/15 issue)....The City
     Council of Boulder City, NV, will begin talks with the MGM
     Grand to build two "upscale" golf courses in the area.  The
     deal will prohibit gaming and it won't allow a hotel or
     homes along the golf course (LAS VEGAS SUN, 5/13).
