FACILITY NOTES

Following last week's reports of "moldy hot dogs and
short cups of beer" at Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia City
Councilmember Jim Kenney will "introduce a resolution on
Thursday that calls for hearings into the city food
concession contract with Ogden Entertainment (PHILADELPHIA
DAILY NEWS, 4/27)....In Cincinnati, 3,000 fans attended
Saturday's riverfront groundbreaking ceremony for the
Bengals new stadium, scheduled to be completed by August
2000 (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 4/26)....The Washington, DC,
Sports Commission is about to launch a campaign to convince
local political and business leaders that an MLB stadium
"would fit perfectly in downtown Washington," instead of
Northern VA. Backers of the DC plan "acknowledge" that
their efforts are a "long shot," but the mere threat of a DC
bid "has gotten the attention of" Northern VA officials, who
have spent "nearly" four years trying to land an MLB
franchise (WASHINGTON POST, 4/25)....The Bucs have secured
ten-year leases on all 75 luxury suites in their new
stadium, and "are planning to build a few more." The
stadium eventually could have as many as 90 suites (ST.
     PETERSBURG TIMES, 4/25)....Talladega Speedway officials
announced a two-phase building project that will give the
track more than 200,000 seats (NEWS & OBSERVER, 4/25).
