MEDIA NOTES

SPORTS EMMYS: NBC took home the most Sports Emmy Awards
for the second consecutive year, picking up seven awards
last night in New York. ESPN took home six awards, ABC and
HBO each took four, Fox won two, and TNT, Showtime Event TV,
Outdoor Life Network and PBS each won one award. CBS was
shut out for the second straight year. In accepting an
award for its NBA coverage, NBC Sports President Dick
Ebersol "included Marv Albert among those he thanked"
(HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 4/21). A full listing of Sports Emmy
winners will run in THE DAILY on Friday (THE DAILY).
NOTES: Maple Leafs G Glenn Healy will make his prime
time TV debut as an NHL studio analyst for the opening round
of the Stanley Cup playoffs on CBC's "Hockey Night in
Canada" (TORONTO SUN, 4/21)....NEWSDAY's Steve Zipay writes
that NBC has "sideswiped fans in the New York area who want
to watch the Knicks and Nets on Friday." The Knicks-Heat
and Nets-Bulls series will both begin on Friday, so NBC can
"maximize their Sunday audience" by showing the Bulls. The
Knicks-Heat will start Friday at 7:00pm on TBS, with the
Nets-Bulls starting at 8:00pm on TNT. Zipay asks, "Why
force the only two teams from one market to overlap?" NBA
     Senior VP/PR Brian McIntyre: "Since 1994, we've made a
commitment to air all of the playoff games. Somebody has
got to be separated" (NEWSDAY, 4/21)....The Capitals will
switch radio broadcasts to WTEM-AM for the playoffs. All-
sports WTEM was home to the Wizards this season (Capitals).
