DUCKS NOT LAYING GOLDEN EGGS: TEAM TO RAISE TICKET PRICES

The Mighty Ducks announced they will raise ticket
prices next season, "the fifth consecutive season the Ducks
have raised ticket prices in some capacity," according to
Cammy Clark of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. While Anaheim
Sports President Tony Tavares called the "least-successful
season" in team history "disappointing," he "made no
apologies" for the ticket hike. Tavares: "I don't see as
there's any choice but to raise ticket prices. We are, and
league-wide we are experiencing the substantial double-digit
inflation for the average salary in the NHL. The money's
got to come from somewhere. ... We have been conservative I
think in what our ticket prices have been" (ORANGE COUNTY
REGISTER, 4/14). In Orange County, columnist Randy Youngman
wrote it was "particularly galling" that Tavares "was so
nonchalant and unapologetic in revealing the ... price hike.
     ... It's typical Disney arrogance" (O.C. REGISTER, 4/15).
